The armed robbers escaped.
The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday announced that it has recovered two exotic cars from suspected armed robbers.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed this to PREMIUM TIMES in Abeokuta explained that the cars were recovered at Maria Village near Ayetoro Town at about 3.00 a.m. by policemen attached to the Ayetoro Division of Ilaro Area Command.
He revealed that the recovered vehicles include a Toyota Highlander Jeep with registration number EKY441 AX, snatched in Lagos, and a Toyota Camry with registration number APP 574 BT, snatched in Abeokuta on Wednesday when the bandits were intercepted.
Mr. Adejobi also stated that the police team was led by one Inspector Joseph Uzuegbu.
“The police team had been put on red alert via our communication network of the robbers’ movement towards the border,” Mr. Adejobi explained.
He said the policemen engaged the robbers in a gun battle before the vehicles were recovered. The robbers, however, escaped.
Mr. Adejobi appealed to the public to be on the lookout for the fleeing robbers for possible arrest, adding that they had sustained bullet wounds.
