The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa on Sunday said it had arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly selling stolen items in the state.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Muhammad Gidado said in Dutse that the suspect was arrested in Gujungu, Taura Local Government Area, after receiving intelligence report about his activities.
“We received information about his activities in the area after we arrested a thief who told us that the items he stole were confiscated by the suspect,” Gidado said.
He explained that whenever the suspect came across thieves with stolen items in the area, he ordered them to surrender the items or else he would report them to security personnel.
“Instead of the suspect to report the thief to the security or hand over the stolen goods to the appropriate agencies, he would go and sell them,” he said.
The commandant said that the suspect would soon be charged to court.
