Mr. Jonathan, who said “that in a system where equals are treated unequally or where unequals are treated equally, that system is corrupt,”asked the officials to “make sure that equals are treated equally and unequals are treated unequally, to distinguish yourself from others”.
Mr. Jonathan described the appointment of the chairman of the commission as “a round peg in a round hole”.
The president said the key responsibilities of the National Assembly Service Commission includes the appointment of persons to all offices of the National Assembly, to promote, transfer, and confirm such appointments, and also discipline erring officials.
Mr. Jonathan described the work of the new appointees as tasking, saying “in the political dispensation, I don’t envy your assignment at all. I believe that you will do the best for this commission”.
The Chairman of the commission, who spoke on behalf of the members, expressed gratitude to the President for the appointment.
