The group has dumped the PDP for APC.
The former chairmanship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2011 local government election in Ogun State have established a political pressure group supporting the second term bid of the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
The group known as Frontier Movement, led by Olusola Enitan, addressed a press conference in Abeokuta, declaring that they have dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, which Mr. Amosun belongs to.
Mr. Enitan disclosed that the project was the initiative of twelve out of the twenty former candidates, adding that it was very much on course and gaining popularity. He assured that more of their members are eager to be part of it.
He said the movement was convinced of Mr. Amosun performances and achievements in the last two years hence, their resolve to support his second term bid in 2015.
“We have found a new boat in APC. We took the decision to appreciate Amosun performances. We are endorsing the second term of His Excellency, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Only a madman would say he is not seeing what he is doing. He is a visionary leader. We found Amosun as a man who does what he promises,” Mr. Enitan said.
He noted that the governor’s slogan, “Mission to rebuild the state” is not a fluke but reality, adding that Mr. Amosun practiced the politics of development.
Mr. Enitan boasted that the body would work around the clock to ensure victory for Mr. Amosun in 2015.
The movement said APC was an open platform that had given all elements a free hand to operate unlike PDP which could not manage itself as a result of its size and power play.
“APC will manage its size compared to PDP whose size and power-play led to its fall because the leadership lacks managerial skill. APC is an open platform that has given every element a free hand. APC is a starting block and everybody is on level one.” mr. Enitan said.
