Five persons were killed in three separate auto crashes in Niger and Gombe states between Friday and Sunday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The victims in the Niger State incident were two soldiers and two civilians, according to the FRSC Mokwa Sector Commander, Mr. Adedoyin Adeyinka.
NAN gathered that the first accident involved an Army Hilux vehicle and an articulated vehicle at Nakorgi village, about 43 kilometres from Mokwa, at about 7.30pm.
Adeyinka said the soldiers died in the crash while two others sustained injuries.
Adeyinka said the second accident, involving a truck, occurred on Sunday on the same Mokwa-Bida Road, claiming the lives of a driver and a water melon dealer.
The FRSC official said the truck and a petrol tanker had a head-on collision.
“The truck driver and water melon dealer died on the spot and their corpses were conveyed to Mokwa General Hospital,” he said.
Also, in Gombe, the FRSC on Saturday confirmed that one person died while another sustained injuries in an auto crash, involving a trailer at the Gombe Central Roundabout.
The Assistant Corps Commander of the FRSC the state, Mr Ahmed Musa, confirmed the incident to NAN.
He said, “One person died while the other person was trapped inside the vehicle.’’
