Hajj: Kaduna Refunds N10m To Pilgrims

Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced refunds of over 10 million Naira to the state pilgrims who performed 2011 Hajj exercise.
According to a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Yunusa M. Abdullahi, the refund was a security deposit and royalty paid by the pilgrims to Saudi Arabian authority, which was refunded to National Hajj Commission of Nigeria last year.
“The pilgrims are to receive one thousand three hundred and seventy naira (N1, 370) each through their respective pilgrims Officers at the local government area they earlier paid the Hajj fares in 2011,” he said.
Speaking while flagging off the payment of the refund at Kujama, the Overseer of the Board, Alhaji Yahuza Saidu Makarfi, urged the Pilgrim’s Officers to ensure each pilgrim gets a refund after proper identification.
He said the payment followed the non-violation of Saudi Arabian law during the Hajj exercise adding that the state was commended over the good character exhibited by the pilgrims during the exercise.
Some of the pilgrims interviewed at the flag off of the payment expressed happiness and satisfaction over the conduct of the refund exercise.
“I feel very happy receiving this sum from the Board. The exercise was memorable, said Harira Akoke, who performed the hajj in 2011.
