President still consulting on ministerial nominees— Aide

SEPTEMBER 15, 2013

President Goodluck Jonathan is still consulting on the replacements for the nine ministers relieved of their appointments.
The Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, Senator Joy Emodi, said this in a telephone interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, in Abuja, on Friday.
Emodi explained that the President was a meticulous person, who always had the best interest of Nigeria and Nigerians at heart.
This, she said, was the reason why he was still consulting to ensure that the best available hands were given the privilege to serve.
Emodi said, “He is still consulting. He will present the list to the National Assembly as soon as he concludes these consultations.”
President Jonathan had Wednesday last week announced the sack of nine ministers who were members of his cabinet.
Those affected were: Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai (Education); Okon Ewa-Bassey (Science and Technology); and Olugbenga Ashiru (Foreign Affairs).
Others were: Hadiza Mailafiya (Environment); Olugbenga Ashiru (Foreign Affairs); Shamsudeen Usman, (National Planning); and Ama Pepple (Housing, Lands and Urban Development).
