Alvaro Negredo scored a hat-trick as Manchester City thumped CSKA Moscow to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time.
Sergio Aguero opened the scoring with a penalty, made it 2-0 with an angled finish and set up Negredo for a third.
Seydo Doumbia replied but Negredo made it 4-1 from close range and, although Doumbia scored again from the spot, the Spaniard headed home his third late on.
Second-placed City join Group D leaders Bayern Munich, who beat Viktoria Plzen 1-0 in the knockout stage.
And in Spain, Manchester United wasted a great chance to put themselves in touching distance of the Champions League knockout stages after Robin van Persie missed a penalty in a goalless draw with Real Sociedad.
After a poor first half, Javier Hernandez smashed over from six yards.
United improved after Van Persie came on and the Dutchman hit the post from Ashley Young's cross before hitting same upright from the spot.
Marouane Fellaini was sent off late on as Real earned their first point.
United's Belgian midfielder received his second yellow card for a foul on David Zurutuza, having also been booked in the first half.
And it ended a frustrating night for United, who still have games against Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk to come.
