N5.6billion pension fraud: EFCC set to arraign ex-Oyo Head of Service, 11 others

The suspects served during the tenure of former governor Adebayo Alao-Akala.
The former Oyo State Head of Service, Kudirat Adeleke, will be arraigned at an Oyo State High Court, Ibadan on “charges of conspiracy, stealing and criminal breach of trust” over the embezzlement of N5.6 billion meant for the payment of pension and gratuities of retired teachers in the state.
The Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, in a statement Tuesday said Mrs. Adeleke, who was the Head of Service during the administration of immediate past governor of the state, Adebayo Alao-Akala, who is also being prosecuted for fraud, will be arraigned with 11 other suspects.
Those to be arraigned alongside Mrs. Adeleke are: Muili Hakeem Aderemi, former Executive Secretary, Oyo State Pension Board; Adedutan Johnson; Oguntayo Banji, former Internal Auditor, Oyo State Pension Board; and Kareem Rasheed.
Others are Muili Adedamola; Adesina Jimoh Ayoade, former cashier, Oyo State Pension Board; Adebiyi Olasumbo Musendia, former Admin Officer, Oyo State Pension Board; Johnson Bosede; Iyabo Giwa, former cashier, Oyo State Pension Board; Adewale Kehinde; and Olujinmi Adebayo.
Last August, the EFCC had sealed Mrs. Adeleke’s house described as “palatial” by a national newspaper. She was however not apprehended as she was said to be either out of the country at the time or got wind of the visit by operatives of the EFCC and took-off before they arrived.
