I love to look beautiful —Caroline Danjuma

Caroline Danjuma
Caroline Ekanem-Danjuma is one Nollywood actress who always pulls the crowd. Quite stylish, she bares her mind on fashion
 How will you define style?
Style is actually a personal thing; it is from within, not just the outward look. It is all from your mind; whatever you think of yourself is what you are going to look like at the end of the day. Style is just being a beautiful woman, being who you are and being who you are meant to be.
What’s up your sleeves this year?
There are lots of things I am working on but I want them to come as a surprise. I am not going to spill the beans.
 Another movie?
I am not planning on another movie soon because I am still working on my last movie. I produced a movie last year entitled, ‘In the cupboard,’ which has won six awards so I have been busy. Let me promote it some more before jumping into another project.
Most pretty faces experience sexual harassment, do you?
No. I have never been harassed. My relationship with movie producers has always been a professional one even when I was an actress. The reason is that I did not have to present myself as somebody who was desperate for roles. Ladies who get harassed are the ones who expose themselves to harassment. All the people who worked with me on my last movie were seen as my colleagues and they were very pleasant and well-behaved.
Are there challenges you face in running your ventures?
None. Whatever it is, I leave to God.
What sort of childhood did you have?
I had a very exciting childhood; it was a disciplined one as well. My parents did not view frivolities kindly and as members of a prominent family in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, we were expected to keep to a high standard of behaviour. My mother is a Nigerian while my father, a Briton.
How do you strike a balance as a mother, wife and businesswoman?
When I wake up in the morning, I pray, I take care of domestic duties in the house and see to the welfare of my children and that of my husband. I have a loving husband, wonderful children and God. So, the support helps me alot. Sometimes, it could be a bit stressful but I have to do my best and be a virtuous woman. A woman is naturally made to multi-task and I don’t have any problem doing that. We are all taught these things from childhood by our parents. It is all about planning and I plan my day ahead.
 How do you handle pressure?
I don’t even think of pressure, that is a negative thing. I flow with the day and I leave the rest to God and expect the best, so, it just goes as smoothly and easily as I want it. I am trying to discover how you can still be beautiful in spite of everything. I am a lady and I have to be beautiful.  I have to learn how to maintain myself and keep myself. It is part of a lady’s routine.
 Do you exercise?
I do yoga, it is the kind of exercise that gives both spiritual and physical rejuvenation and it puts me in the right frame of mind to handle the task of the day.
 How do you relax?
Work is relaxing for me. I like to be busy, taking care of my family and myself. Then, working with others on ideas for the promotion of my movie and my make-up line relaxes me a lot. Then, I can channel all my mental energy towards these ideas and watch how they play out.
What have been the happiest and saddest moments of your life?
Right now, I am one of the happiest women alive. I have a very loving and caring husband, a happy family and God is blessing the work of my hands every day. Sad moments?  I cannot think of any, I refuse to dwell on the negative aspects of life, whatever sad moments I had, have been overshadowed by moments of happiness.
You once said you could never hurt a fly, has anybody ever taken advantage of you?
Yes, it is a common habit with people but I don’t let that bother me. We are all human beings, we are not perfect, and one has to learn how to manage people.
What is your favourite holiday spot?
That would be Paris and Mauldin.
 Why?
The environment is really beautiful and the people are friendly.
Is that where you spent last Christmas?
No. I actually went to Dubai. It is a family spot and my kids love it there.
What advice do you have for ladies who see you as a role model?
They should love themselves first and every other thing follows. Whatever they want to do, they should not allow anybody to stop them. They should always give it a trial even if they think it will fail. They would be surprised that they will succeed. In everything, they should remember God first. They should be determined, self-confident and learn to please themselves before others. Also they, should always follow the dictates of their hearts and not allow fear to conquer them.
