Kukah Bemoans Insecurity In Nigeria
Catholic Bishop of Sokoto State, Mathew Hassan Kukah has noted with concern the level of insecurity in the country while arguing that north does not exist in real term, “Geographically, geopolitically and religiously there is nothing like the north.”
While lamenting that the insurgency, which has noticeably bedevilled the region, was simply a manifestation of the inherent rot in the system, Kukah affirmed that the problems of the north will not be resolved by the Presidency going back to the so-called north.
Evaluating the perceived benefits of governing the country, Bishop Kukah fumed that despite holding powers for long, north is still the most illiterate, impoverish, unhealthy and vulnerable part of Nigeria.
The clergy further warned that Boko Haram will end when the nation’s leaders begin to do the right thing.
Kukah declared no politician involved in stealing in Nigeria loved the people, and blasted them for using religion and ethnicity to cover up while inflicting more pains on the electorate.
He urged Nigerians to begin to assess and tinker with the quality and calibre of manpower that is being deployed into politics.
He also maintained that Nigeria must continue to remain one, warning that if Nigerians begin to talk about southerners, northerners, Christians and Muslims “we will never have Nigeria.”
