Don’t Link Abba Moro To Uzoma’s Sack – Group Warns
Nigerians pointing accusing fingers at the minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro have been advised to be more diplomatic in their comments on the recent sack of the former Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Rosemary Chinyere Uzoma which was based on grounds of the controversial and scandalous recruitment exercise and other fraud allegations.
This warning was contained in a statement by an Abuja based Non- governmental Organisation, Alliance for Good Governance ( AGG) , which pointed out that provocative statements borne out of sheer ignorance and distortion of facts as far as promotion and postings in the service was concerned was aimed at dragging the minister’s name in the mud.
The statement jointly signed by it’s Chairman, Comrade Shadrack Nwokolo and Secretary , Mr.Jimi Sanwo said the warning was borne out of media reports and conclusions in some quarters that Comrade Moro was responsible for Uzoma’s sack.
While describing as disturbing, allegations where Uzoma’s woes was blamed on the interior minister, the group, insisted that provocative statements from some reputable national dailies, apart from mis-leading innocent Nigerian masses, could further aggravate tribal crises in the service.
The group which further alleged that Uzoma was behind the series of image denting reports blown in the public domain, advised her to leave the Minister alone and allow him to concentrate on his job as Minister of Interior, adding that it will expose her activities the more.
The statement also reads, ‘Mrs Rose Uzoma should note that she is still a public servant who could still be penalised for an act of insubordination. She has lost already sold herself. So it will serve no useful purpose dissipating unnecessary energy over what has already been established as incontrovertible fact.’
It debunked reports that some aggrieved officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service has petitioned the presidency and the senate and has thus, called for the removal of the Minister of Interior , Comrade Abba Moro following his alleged role in frustrating and disgracing Uzoma out of the Service.
The statement reads partly, ‘Rising from an emergency meeting today in Abuja, we, a non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Alliance for Good Governance ( AGG) has described the headline “’ Immigration Row Deepens as Moro Accused of Nepotism’” as baseless and a figment of the writers imagination.’
