NSCDC trains 462 officers in counter-terrorism

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Tuesday said it had trained 462 officers and men in counter-terrorism and insurgency check across the country.
Commandant of the NSCDC in Niger, State, Mr. Ikemefuna Izuka, who said this in an interview with The PUNCH correspondent in Minna, said the training would help in tacking internal security threats.
“A total of 462 officers and men of the NSCDC were trained nationwide in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency to help other security agencies in the country tackle internal security challenges.”
According to him, the officers and men completed the three-week training, which was conducted by the Nigeria Army Training Centre, Kontagora, last Friday.
Izuka said 392 of the trainees were males while 65 were females. He said it was the sixth batch of such training since the inception of the corps.
He said 17 of the officers and men came from his command, out of which were 15 males and two females.
The commandant said the training had made the officers and men to be better civil defenders that could take up their statutory duties, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency anywhere.
“They are now well equipped to carry out their duties in a well dignified manner, including counter- terrorism andcounter-insurgency anywhere,” he added.
